SAGis 3D is a software with which geodata can be converted into 3D models of entire villages and city districts in a highly automated manner. The special feature: Since databases and online sources can be connected directly and without prior preparation, SAGis 3D can seamlessly be integrated into existing systems and workflows.
Idea
Using data treasures
Many municipalities and planning offices in Germany have databases with extensive information about roads, buildings, pipe networks, plantings, etc.. SAGis 3D makes this data - that is way more accurate and topical than OpenStreetMap and Co. - usable for planning and management tasks that require more than just 2D maps.
Challenge
Complexity and limited resources
A wide variety of data sources, extensive automation, conversion, processing and supplementation functions, the requirement to be able to run on office hardware and to be usable without expert knowledge... - a lot had to be considered during the development of SAGis 3D.
Result
From zero to 3D with just 10 minutes of effort
Due to the simple, streamlined interface, it only takes minutes to configure the conversion process from data to 3D models within SAGis 3D. The conversion process itself then takes place in a similarly short time - thanks to fully asynchronous programming. And if the connected data sources should later have any changes, then these can simply be adopted in real time.
